Interaction Between DiSC Styles:  D (Dominant) with C (Conscientious)
The C is motivated by opportunities to use expertise or gain knowledge while providing attention to quality and accuracy.  NOTE:  When it comes to PACE and PRIORITY, the C has a more cautious, reserved pace as compared to the faster, assertive PACE of the D.  This subtle difference in PACE may require a little “stretch” in certain interactions.  The C has an objective, task-oriented PRIORITY similar to the D.

More about the "C" (Conscientious) Style  -  Stress & Motivation
We know that the “C” is a deliberate, moderate, more reserved PACE combined with a more task-oriented PRIORITY.  I’d also like to add some other descriptors to enhance your understanding of the general “C” style:  analytical, reserved, precise, private, systematic, thoughtful, and questioning.  Along those lines, “C’s” are about 1) ensuring accuracy, 2) maintaining stability, and 3) challenging assumptions.  Their motto:  “Do it Right”.

Responding to the "C" Style  -  Conscientious

In previous blogs, we learned about our TWO foundational aspects of the DISC styles: Pace & Priority. Per the model above, the Conscientious (C) style has a deliberate PACE (similar to the S or Steady style) and tends to be reserved and modest. Other descriptors of a high C might include exacting, analytical, factual, precise, accurate, and private. The C’s PRIORITY is task-oriented (versus people-oriented) and prefers following procedures (versus not).  C’s share a task orientation with D’s (Dominant).

Understanding the "C" Style

Got DISC?  These reserved, task-oriented folks are focused on "getting things done RIGHT".   HIGH C's have acquired the nickname of "Analytical" over the years.  They prefer to be detailed and careful, and their priority is to follow procedure.  A HIGH C demonstrates competence and you set high expectations for others as well.  HIGH C's appreciate sincerity and acceptance from peers and colleagues.  They thrive on data and validation that provide complete explanation of systems and processes.  When you "need it done now RIGHT" (as compared to "right now"), call a C.
